Personal life update: I hung out with a really cool old nun today. She told me about “El Opus” (Opus Dei) and how it’s been closely tied to Spanish gov’t and military leadership since Franco was in power. Apparently it was involved in illegal trafficking and all sorts of dirty dealings during that era, and got away with it because it was in cahoots with El Generalísimo. The lefties here in Galicia all seem to loathe El Opus. Interesting stuff, Dan Brown notwithstanding.
